Теория, рассматривающая проблему потребительского выбора, т.е. каким образом потребители распределяют свой доход на покупку товаров и услуг. Согласно теории потребители стараются максимизировать полезность или удовлетворение, которое можно получить, расходуя свой ограниченный доход. В теории объясняется, почему кривая спроса имеет нисходящий уклон.
